Budget continuity within an FP&A team

No break in the budget cycle during the transition
airplay

Context and objectives

A subsidiary of a major energy group, this company produces renewable electricity in France from wind farms, solar plants and anaerobic digestion units. Its financial controllers, historically attached to the business departments, have just been brought together in a central FP&A team.

A member of that team is about to leave. Their replacement is a junior profile, with no overlap between the two. The company must guarantee continuity of the budget cycle and secure the transfer of knowledge.

Assignment

An FP&A specialist consultant, at home in industrial environments and the energy sector, is mobilised full time for 6 months, with two remote days a week. He takes over the departing controller's scope: preparing budgets, forecasts and financial plans, building models and scenarios, analysing variances, producing the reporting and dashboards, supporting decisions. He organises the handover, then trains the junior recruited to succeed him.
