Case study

Making an industrial ramp-up reliable

Production rate secured and series rollout prepared
airplay

Context and objectives

Specialising in the manufacture of high and low voltage electrical transformers, this industrial site is seeing very strong growth in output and headcount, driven by significant machine investment. It also oversees partner sites in Asia and Africa from its centre of excellence.

The challenge is scale, with a target of several transformers per week. Machine load capability is the sticking point: equipment at its limits, part passages sometimes impossible and schedule delays are holding back that ambition.

Assignment

A consulting engineer specialising in industrialisation and testing, with a solid electrotechnical and shop-floor culture, is mobilised full time for three months, on site, reinforcing the industrial performance team: taking over the improvement plan, defining test specifications, running capability analyses, leading field trials through to a full understanding of the phenomena, identifying the relevant technical trade-offs, verifying the conformity of semi-finished parts and preparing the series rollout, working iteratively towards results.
