Building a carbon desk serving the portfolio companies
Context and objectives
A leading European investment company, active in private equity, venture, private debt and real estate, this firm manages tens of billions of euros in assets across several hundred portfolio companies.
To accelerate the decarbonisation of its portfolio, its ESG leadership is building an internal carbon advisory desk: full carbon footprints (scopes 1, 2 and 3) for the portfolio companies, operational decarbonisation plans, then biodiversity diagnostics, with the ambition of offering this service to the portfolio.
Assignment
A senior carbon strategy consultant, experienced in emissions assessments and digital-sector issues (scope 3 procurement, data centres, cloud), is mobilised for 6 months, full time and on site. He rolls out the carbon support for the first portfolio companies, produces actionable decarbonisation plans and lays the foundations of the internalised offering: standardised methodology, practical guides, tools, deliverable templates and checklists.
